Natural Barley

Barley is one of the oldest grains cultivated by humans on Earth — the ancient Egyptians and Sumerians cultivated it over 10,000 years ago, and it was the staple food of ancient civilizations and the preferred nourishment for soldiers and athletes. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recommended it in more than one noble hadith — Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to order Talbina for the sick and for the one grieving over a deceased person," which is primarily made from barley. Whole barley is distinguished by retaining its outer husk and bran layer, rich in the unique compound beta-glucan, which makes it an exceptional natural remedy for cholesterol, blood sugar, and heart health. It differs from ground Talbina in that it is a whole grain used in various ways for cooking, juices, soups, and detox programs.

At Al-Mawaddah store, we offer you natural whole barley of the highest purity and quality, retaining its husk, bran, and full exceptional nutritional value.

🍽️ Culinary Use

  • Barley water: Boil one cup of barley grains in one liter of water for 30-40 minutes, then strain, add honey and lemon, and drink cold or warm.
  • Barley soup: Add whole barley to soups, broths, and stews for a creamy texture and high nutritional value.
  • Breakfast: Soak whole barley overnight and boil it in the morning with milk, honey, and dates for a luxurious and satisfying meal.
  • Salads: Add cooked, cooled barley to salads for a nutritious and crunchy addition.

Al-Mawaddah Tip: Soak barley in cold water for 8 hours before cooking to reduce boiling time and improve nutrient absorption — soaked grains are easier to digest and have higher nutritional value.

  • Mask for dry skin: Mix barley powder with milk and honey as a moisturizing and nourishing mask for 15 minutes.
  • For body skin: Mix the powder with coconut oil and brown sugar as a luxurious, gentle body scrub.
  • For skin brightening: Mix the powder with yogurt and apply to the skin for 20 minutes weekly.

⚠️ Caution: Always test on a small area of skin before full application.

Al-Mawaddah Tip: Whole barley lasts much longer than ground barley — store it in an airtight jar away from humidity, and it is preferable to place a grain of rice inside the jar to absorb moisture.
